(UCFP) UNIVERSAL COMMUNITY FACILITATION PROGRAMMING

UCFP is the training arm of Mama Theresa Holistic Centre

 UCFP provides:

· Knowledge and experience-based training programs.

· Implementation of community projects in many different fields and geographical areas 

· Training services to communities and institutions aligned and adapted to meet desired outcomes

· Community based Needs Assessment and Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) Analysis as essential first steps

Our knowledgeable and experienced facilitators are always ready to go the extra mile with the people in need. 

WHY NEEDS ASSESSMENT.

• To work hand in hand with communities to   identify community issues (pressing needs), analyse and prioritise their   needs.
• To ensure ALL members of the community are      acknowledged, ie

Ø Men & women

Ø Elders and youth

Ø Marginalized community members

Ø Healers and health workers

WHY C.A.P ANALYSIS (Community Action Plan)

• To determine the level of knowledge in the      community
• To address the communities needs as a      whole
• To reveal their coping strategies. 
• The attitude analysis will help us to explore      their beliefs, will power and the perception the community has toward      their needs. 
• The practice analysis helps us to gauge      the community level of participation towards the identified needs and      their readiness to participate in addressing the needs at will.

After taking the community through the needs assessment and CAP Analysis we progress to the needs level of facilitating the development of Comprehensive Community Action Plan (C-CAP)

WHY C-CAP

We have discovered that most community needs are interrelated and therefore it is imperative for a comprehensive plan to address the most urgent needs. This is where we are guided by the prioritised community needs starting by one or two of the most pressing needs.

CORE VALUE TRAINING – WHY?

The core value training is packaged to address:

· The community attitude (which is mostly negative at the inception stage of a project). 

· Aimed at achieving correct attitude for the project. 

· To ensure maximum participation and ownership of the project.

SELF RELIANT PARTICIPATORY DEVELOPMENT (SRPD)

SRPD is a development approach that aims at achieving self-sustainable development. The focus on empowering people to initiate projects that are feasible, practicable and viable as well as relevant to their everyday lives. 

This approach works to reduce over dependency on donations. It encourages maximum use of local available resources, investment partnerships and business development models.

We also incorporate the community social responsibility aspect in our training. 

We therefore train and categorise our training packages into two;

· Business Development Model - aims at promoting community investment initiatives in addressing their needs ie creating employment to increase community income level.

· The Community Service Model aims at providing charity/ support to the most needy in the community. The initiative begins with the community and then it becomes open to any interested person willing to intervene positively in the situation.

PROJECT BASED TRAINING

WASH in Schools and in Communities

We provide one of the most successful training in “WASH in Schools: and in Communities. All of this is based on knowledge and successful implementation on WASH in different Communities. (please refer to WASH in Schools on our website under Project Report examples)

GOAT BREEDING

MTHC  with funding from World Youth International (WYI) created one of  the most successful goat breeding projects  in Kenya at Asembo Bay . It  is now administered by the  Asembo Bay Goat Breeders Association

The essential element in sustaining the goat breeding is consistent training by

CLIMATE SMART PRACTICE

We are very experienced in simple community climate smart practice ranging from:

· Climate Smart Agriculture Practice, 

· Green/Renewable energy, and Community Response toward climate changes

In mid September 2019  Alex was appointed to the position of  Chair of the Climate  Change  Council at Ward level representing East Asembo & Central Asembo locations.

Alex sits on the Siaya County Climate  Change Technical Committee and is President of the newly formed Civil Society Coalition for Climate Change & Good Governance. The main role is holding the county government accountable in matters related to policy interpretation, finance management, effective monitoring & evaluation.

This is a non political position tabled in parliament for approval which is gazetted in the official government gazette for 6 months for people to raise objections. ( Copy of appointment & official nomination are   in the download section on this page) 

A non political position falling under Cabinet membership based on high values, knowledge, transparency & accountability.

In the above capacity he undertook a 5 day intensive training workshop conducted by the Kenyan School Of Government (KSG )which cut across :-

• Environmental change issues
• Project Management
• Proposal Development
• Monitoring & Evaluation

ENTREPRENEURIAL  DEVELOPMENT

We provide training of small and medium sized enterprises 

The overall goal of this training package is to equip our trainees with:

· The best business attitudes

· To create and generate their own income

· To become self-reliant and build self-esteem.

NETWORKING AND COLLABORATION

We provide training on networking and collaboration. The objective to achieve with this to promote investment partnerships and to be aggressive in building strong networks for sharing resources.

We are ready to provide full training package at request. However, this is done after in-depth consultation with the contracting organisation.
